NewsSphere is a high-performance MERN stack news aggregation platform built with React, Node.js, Express, and MongoDB Atlas, leveraging Redis for high-speed caching of trending news streams. My architecture focuses on enterprise-grade DevSecOps: the platform is fully containerized with Docker and orchestrated on Kubernetes, utilizing ArgoCD to maintain a declarative GitOps state. I engineered a 'shift-left' security pipeline that integrates automated SCA and container scanning via Trivy, SAST analysis with SonarQube, and DAST testing using OWASP ZAP. The system features a comprehensive observability stack with Prometheus and Grafana, complete with automated email alerting for CI/CD failures or system anomalies.
Beyond the robust backend, NewsSphere offers a seamless, interactive user experience powered by the NewsData.io API. The platform provides sophisticated search and discovery capabilities, allowing users to filter news content by specific date ranges, categories, news sources, or article titles. User engagement is central to the application, featuring secure profile authentication, personalized account management, and an interactive commenting system that encourages community interaction. The platform is designed to be highly responsive and user-centric, ensuring that complex news data is accessible, searchable, and engaging.
